These arent your grandmothers quilts, has become an unofficial tagline for the Shafer Art Gallerys annual exhibit from the National Quilt Museum and for good reason.泭 The ornate designs and craftsmanship of the 18 quilts on display far exceed that of what most people likely think of when they hear the word quilt.泭

The 91勛圖厙 Theatre Department will host open auditions for its spring musical production Godspell, by Stephen Schwartz from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 2 and 3 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
Those auditioning need to prepare one song from musical theatre and bring sheet music.泭 An accompanist will be provided.
91勛圖厙 Theatre Instructor Erin Renard will direct the play and anyone aged 17-40 is encouraged to audition.泭

91勛圖厙s music department will present the timeless holiday musical classic A Christmas Carol at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 and 22 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 23 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
The show is being directed by 91勛圖厙s Director of Chorale Activities Vern Fryberger.泭 He has participated in 46 musicals over a span of 35 years and has been planning this show since last summer after seeing this particular adaptation at the Denver Center for Performing Arts.

Each year, as part of the Theatre Program at 91勛圖厙, students are asked to take the reins and produce a show entirely by themselves.泭 This year, theatre Majors Joy Conner and Maili Kee are co-directing Love, Lust & Lasagna, with showings at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 and 21 in the 91勛圖厙 Planetarium.
The production features two plays, Caught in the Act and Opposites Attract and both are by playwright Bruce Kane.泭

Brenna Martin, senior piano major at Wichita State University, will give her senior piano recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel as part of the 91勛圖厙 Music Departments Visiting Artist Series.
Martin is originally from St. John and took classes through 91勛圖厙 for two years in high school from 91勛圖厙 Piano Instructor Karole Erikson.

91勛圖厙 Theatre major and vocalist Maili Kee of Salina earned the right to sing with five Broadway stars at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bethel Colleges Memorial Hall, 300 East 27th St. in Newton as part of Neil Bergs 100 Years of Broadway show.泭 Kee won a runner-up spot in Hesston-Bethel Colleges Singing with the Broadway Stars contest by submitting a video of herself singing.

91勛圖厙 Theatre Major Maili Kee of Salina took home a second place award at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition this weekend as part of the West Central Regional Student Auditions at Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colo.

The 91勛圖厙 Debate and Forensics team participated in its second tournament of the year Oct. 17-19 at the University of Central Missouri and 91勛圖厙s Chase Pumford was a standout performer.
Pumford, a sophomore from Great Bend, earned a sixth place individual speaker award in National Forensic Association Lincoln Douglas (NFA-LD) Debate and tied for third in NFA-LD Debate.
91勛圖厙 Forensics Coach Bill Sheffield said Pumford really shined at this event.
