The Shafer Art Gallerys summer exhibit Finding Balance is now open and will end with a closing reception from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 7.
The exhibit is curated by Fort Hays State Art Instructor Joel T. Dugan.泭 It is a compilation of artists from the Midwest with a focus on the relationship people have with the unique landscape of the Midwest.
The curatorial statement by Dugan describes the feel and purpose of the exhibit.

91勛圖厙 will be closed Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day.泭 The college is now on summer hours.泭 Office hours are 7:30 a.m. 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.泭 The college will be closed on Fridays through August 7.泭泭

Kami Maxwell of Odin and Ambonirina Nathanael Razafindrabe of Antananarvio, Madagascar were named 91勛圖厙s 2015 Outstanding Graduates.泭 Dean of Student Services Angie Maddy introduced them and presented their awards, after which they took the opportunity to address their fellow graduates during the colleges 45th commencement ceremony Friday.

The 91勛圖厙 Foundation honored Brad and Sarah Shirer with the 2015 Distinguished Service Award during 91勛圖厙s 45th commencement on Friday.泭泭泭
The Distinguished Service Award was created in 1981 by the 91勛圖厙 Foundation to recognize individuals who have shown genuine regard for, and have performed outstanding service to 91勛圖厙. The 91勛圖厙 Foundation Board of Directors selects the recipient from nominations received.

Five 91勛圖厙 instructors earned the Distinguished Instructor Award for the 2014-2015 school year for their efforts in the classroom.

91勛圖厙 recognizes 2014-2015 Student Ambassadors of the Year
91勛圖厙 has announced its 2014-15 Brant J. Ballhorst Student Ambassador of the Year awards.泭 Named in memory of Brant J. Ballhorst, the award recognizes two outstanding student ambassadors each year.泭 The winners this year were Jordan Tebow of Quinter and Kami Maxwell of Odin.泭

91勛圖厙 has announced the winners of its Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest.泭 The winners are as follows: Abby Petz and Andrea Klepper, Taylor Pennington, and Marcus Pastran. 泭Each individual winner received a $100 gift certificate and the collaborative pair will split the winnings.泭泭

About 100 Kansas high school students flocked to 91勛圖厙 to get hands-on experience from 91勛圖厙s art professionals and participate in a juried art exhibit on Thursday.

91勛圖厙 Art Instructor Steve Dudek and Piano Instructor Karole Erikson had their work accepted into the 46th Annual Smoky Hill Art Exhibition.
Eriksons photo Down by the River and Dudeks painting Golden Koi were both accepted.泭 There were about 200 works submitted and 62 were selected for exhibition.
The exhibit will be at the Hays Arts Council Gallery 112 E. 11th St. in Hays and will be on display through June.泭
