91勛圖厙 art students received recognition at this years 91勛圖厙 Student Exhibition at the Shafer Gallery on April 21. This exhibit will run through May 12. Those interested in experiencing the art can visit the Shafer Gallery 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

91勛圖厙 will present a student recital of instrumental and vocal performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157.泭 The recital is free and open to the public.

The 91勛圖厙 Music Department awards 11 scholarships every year at about $1,000 each and 20 performance awards for non-music major students, which enables them to participate in ensembles.泭 This could not be done without the communitys support of the annual Music Endowment Concert, which is set for 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 1 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

After conducting more than 400 concerts and directing 45 musicals over his 38-year career, 91勛圖厙 Vocal Instructor Vern Fryberger is ready to step off stage and begin his retirement.

But, its not because hes tired of the vocation.

The 91勛圖厙 Board of Trustees gathered Tuesday evening for its regular meeting and discussed one of its eight overarching goals, known as ENDs. This months focus was on Work Preparedness, which deals primarily with ensuring students are fully capable to handle the demands of their chosen careers once employed.

91勛圖厙 invites members of 91勛圖厙 County Young Professionals, and those interested in joining, to enjoy food, drinks, music and excellent door prizes at its second annual YP mixer from 6-8 p.m.泭April 28 in the Shafer Art Gallery on campus. A brief presentation will begin at about 7 p.m.

The meal is a choice of pastas and sauces with bread and a salad. Wine and beer will be provided by the 91勛圖厙 Foundation. Guests must be 21 or older to enter. IDs will be checked at the door.

91勛圖厙 art students will line the walls of the Shafer Art Gallery with their work during the 91勛圖厙 Student Art Exhibit juried art show 6-8 p.m. April 21. The show will run through May 12.

The reception will include an awards ceremony where cash awards will be given for each category. The awards were donated by The Credit Union of America in Great Bend, Karen and Dale Shaner, Don and Barbara Beahm, The Great Bend Tribune, Eagle Communications, Bob Feldt, Kent Weltmer and Maureen Leahy.

91勛圖厙s Community Service Organization and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society will host a 5K walk/run 8 a.m. Sunday, April 30. Registration will be泭7:30 a.m. in the Fine Arts circle drive at 91勛圖厙. All proceeds will be donated to Camp Hope.

The course begins and ends at 91勛圖厙. There will be two groups: 16 and over and 15 and under. The top three finishers in each group will be awarded immediately following the race.
