91勛圖厙 now offers . These new awards will assist students more than before in affording a college education.

91勛圖厙 Bound Scholarships are available to first-time college students who graduated from a Kansas High School the previous academic year and are Kansas Residents. There are four levels of awards offered based on a students GPA or ACT score: Elite, Excellence, Honor, and Achievement awards.

91勛圖厙s Center for Adult Education will soon be starting its nine-week GED Preparation Class. The orientation day, which is a prerequisite for the course, will be held from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 3-7 p.m. on May 25 at 1025 Main St. in Great Bend. The morning class session will begin the following Tuesday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and the afternoon class session will meet 3-7 p.m.

The Shafer Gallery will host an opening reception for the exhibit Mages Marine Marvels by James Mages at 6 p.m. May 25. The show will run through July 19. The exhibit consists of dramatically stylized fish crafted in cast bronze, stainless steel, aluminum and wood surrounded by boldly patterned brilliantly colored posters.

Mages, who earned a Master of Fine Arts in Drawing from Fort Hays State University, has created a visual environment inspired by his passion for sea creatures.

MANHATTAN Kansas State University has been recognized as a member of Phi Theta Kappas Transfer Honor Roll for providing exemplary programs, initiatives and benefits for community college transfers.

Before starting todays column, a very Happy Mothers Day to every mother reading this.泭 Secondly, the area is in full graduation mode so congratulations to all those graduating from high school and college.泭 91勛圖厙s ceremony was this past Friday up on the hill with ceremonies soon to come at Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth.泭 Good luck in your future endeavors.

91勛圖厙 will be closed Monday, May 29 for Memorial Day.泭

The college is now on summer hours.泭 Office hours are 7:30 a.m. 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.泭 The college will be closed on Fridays through August 4.泭

Corrigan Bartlett of Maize and Ezekiel Charles of Brooklyn, New York were named 91勛圖厙s 2017 Outstanding Graduates.泭 Dean of Student Services Angie Maddy introduced them and presented their awards, after which they took the opportunity to address their fellow graduates during the colleges 47th commencement ceremony Friday.
