91勛圖厙 music students to present recital

91勛圖厙 will present a student recital of instrumental and vocal performances at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157.泭 The recital is free.

91勛圖厙 Theatre Department to host Original Playwright Series

The 91勛圖厙 Theatre Department is calling for original plays from the community for its Original Playwright Series. Three of the submitted plays will be chosen to be performed on April 27, 2017 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Playwrights have until Feb. 1, 2017 to submit their play.

Thanksgiving is this Thursday.泭We have just finished up the elections.泭Commodity prices could be better.泭We all need a break.泭So today, instead of discussing deep issues in agriculture or the latest problem, lets take a break and focus on something we can almost all agree on Thanksgiving dinner.泭It is, outside of Independence Day, the most American of holidays. But, where泭did our feast really come from?泭With apologies for any family or regional traditions.

Each year, as part of the Theatre Program at 91勛圖厙, students are asked to take the reins and produce a show entirely by themselves. Theatre Majors Kolton Landreth, Lacey Hobbs and Jose Flores co-wrote this years student production, Finals Week Massacre: A Slapstick Murder Mystery with showings at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 and 15 in the 91勛圖厙 Fine Arts Auditorium.

Its like breakfast club meets Carrie meets murder mystery realness, Landreth said.

91勛圖厙 is offering woodworking courses from 6-9:45 p.m. on Mondays from Nov. 14 to Mar. 6 at Ellsworth High School, 211 W. 11th St. in Ellsworth.

The instructor will be David Weeks.泭 Classes of various levels will be available including Woodworking I (18928), Woodworking II (18930) and Individual Woodworking Projects (18931).泭 Each course will count for three credit-hours.泭 The cost is $312 per class and fees for materials used.

On Nov. 3 Senator Jerry Moran stopped by 91勛圖厙 and met with President Heilman, Vice President Garrett, and Board of Trustee member Mike Johnson.

The visit began with a video conference with Bill Nash, Dean of Technical and Military Outreach at Ft. Riley and Ashley Anderson Dean of Military Academic Services to discuss 91勛圖厙s relationship with the military.

91勛圖厙 will offer a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) refresher course 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Nov. 21-22 in the Adult Healthcare Lab, T-119.

This 15 contact-hour course is approved by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) for a Kansas CNA who has gone inactive and wishes to reactive their credential. It is a state requirement to pass a refresher course to reactivate CNA credentials.
