91勛圖厙s Center for Adult Education will soon start its nine-week GED Preparation Class.

91勛圖厙 will offer two sessions for orientation: 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 30 at 1025 Main St. in Great Bend. Orientation classes are the first step to obtaining a GED and are required before official preparation courses can be taken. Those interested will need to call before Friday, January 12.

The 91勛圖厙 Planetarium will host three showings of the annual holiday show Star of Bethlehem at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. December 10 in the 91勛圖厙 Planetarium in the Science Building.

The show will teach audiences about the origin of the star and how it played into the story of the Christ Child.泭The presentation will answer questions like: Who were the wise men? Were there just three? Did they come from Persia, Babylon or Ethiopia? Did they follow a visible star to Jerusalem? and more.

Two works by Steve Dudek, Canna and Summer, were accepted into the Kansas Watercolor Society National Watercolor Exhibition. Art student and Director of Student Life Diane Engle also has a piece in the exhibition titled, The Black Pearl. The exhibition runs until December 17 at the Wichita Center for Arts on 912 E. Central in Wichita. The judge for the show is Soon Y. Warren.

91勛圖厙 Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) graduates had a 100 percent pass rate in 2017 on their National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and the Registered Nurse (RN) graduates had an 88.89 percent pass rate on their licensure exams, a 44 percent increase from last year.

My hat goes off to both the faculty and students for working hard to accomplish this, Executive Director of Nursing and Healthcare Education Dr. Kathleen Kottas said.

91勛圖厙 is offering woodworking courses from 6-9:45 p.m. on Mondays from January 8 to March 5 at Ellsworth High School, 211 W. 11th St. in Ellsworth.

The instructor will be David Weeks. Classes of various levels will be available including Woodworking I, Woodworking II and Individual Woodworking Projects. Each course will count for three credit-hours.泭The cost is $324 per class and fees for materials used.

Theatre was never a part of the plan for Jared Steele, a freshman at 91勛圖厙 majoring in theatre who plans on graduating 91勛圖厙 in May.

The 91勛圖厙 Music Department is excited to announce the spring 2018 musical, Curtains, a mystery comedy with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb who wrote music for the highly acclaimed shows Cabaret and Chicago.

The musical is set during 1959 in Boston, Mass. at a theatre where police detective Frank Cioffi attends the opening night of a musical when during the curtain call the star of the show, Jessica Cranshaw, is murdered. It is up to Cioffi to solve the case and save the show.
