91勛圖厙, in conjunction with the National Partnership for Environmental Technology Education (PETE), has been offering a 10-day Hazardous Waste Worker Training Program at military installations across the country. Most recently, the program was offered at Fort Riley.

The training is paid for by a grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). The course is geared toward transitioning soldiers, retirees and family members at no cost.

Great Bend entrepreneur Miriam Garcias days of renewing her work visa will soon be over, and shell officially be a U.S. citizen.

Garcias mother brought her to the United States from Mexico more than a decade ago to escape a difficult life circumstance in pursuit of a brighter future. Her mother worked at a meat packing plant in Dodge City to support the family. After graduating high school, Garcia landed a job at a local appliance store.

The Shafer Art Gallery will host an opening reception for its latest exhibit Eufloria featuring flower paintings from Michael Jilg and flower photos by Leon Staab from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 24 in the Shafer Art Gallery. The exhibit runs through August 12.

Gallery Director Dave Barnes said the focus on flowers is purposeful and it is designed to remind us to figuratively stop and smell the roses.

The money was raised by having Going Casual for Camp Hope days where faculty and staff could wear jeans for $5. 泭The campaign ran from October through April. Various faculty and staff departments coordinated and participated in the event and they plan to hold the event again next year.泭

The 91勛圖厙 Foundation honored Loren and Gayle Unruh with the 2016 Distinguished Service Award during 91勛圖厙s 46th commencement on Friday.

The Distinguished Service Award was created in 1981 by the 91勛圖厙 Foundation to recognize individuals who have shown genuine regard for, and have performed outstanding service to 91勛圖厙. The 91勛圖厙 Foundation Board of Directors selects the recipient from nominations received.
