A wide range of local artists work will be on display at the Shafer Gallery as part of the 91勛圖厙 County Arts Council Friends and Acquaintances Art Festival from Sept. 29-Nov. 4. An opening night reception at 6 p.m. Sept. 29. The show is underwritten by the Bill J. McKown Memorial Endowment distributed by the Golden Belt Foundation.

Former 91勛圖厙 student Lindsey Rojas took first place at the Great Plains Students Psychology Convention at Fort Hays State University (FHSU) in the spring semester of 2017.
Rojas began taking classes at 91勛圖厙 in 2011, graduating in 2013 with an associate in science before transferring to Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU).

91勛圖厙 will offer transitioning Fort Sill Soldiers a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to participants.
The Hazardous Waste Worker (HWW) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set from Oct. 16-27.

A 泭Workers Compensation Symposium hosted by WorkFit, is set for 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in the Plaza De Cavanaugh Room (L116) in the Learning Resource Center at 91勛圖厙. The event is free of charge, including lunch. Reservation deadline is Sept. 18. Contact Krystall Barnes at (620) 786-7575 or barnesk@bartonccc.edu to reserve a spot or for more information. The symposium will outline the benefits and return on investment of using WorkFit to test employees.

91勛圖厙s administration has aligned with the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees in support of continuing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program through the legislative process.
The 91勛圖厙 administration agrees with the ACCTs statement that, Terminating DACA undercuts our efforts to serve this population by creating additional barriers to postsecondary access.

91勛圖厙s ninth-annual Wounded Warrior Golf Scramble, which benefits wounded soldiers from Fort Riley, is set for Saturday, Sept. 23. The deadline to register is Sept. 15.
The Wounded Warrior Golf Scramble is an opportunity to support our Soldiers and thank them for their dedicated service to our country.
Shotgun start is set for 9:30 a.m. at the Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Junction City. Standard four-man golf scramble rules apply.

Funds from the Thelma Faye Harms Trust have made possible a lab dedicated to employee training and professional development at 91勛圖厙. It will also allow for third parties to host seminars through the Workforce Training and Community Education Division.

The proceeds from items sold, underwriters, program ads and ticket sales netted $40,000 at the 39th Annual Big Benefit Auction in late August. These funds benefit students directly through scholarships and program enhancements at 91勛圖厙.
Executive Director of Institutional Advancement Coleen Cape said she feels fortunate to have reached the foundation's goal.
