91勛圖厙s Community Service Organization and business student entrepreneur group The SPARK raised $5,000 to donate to Camp Hope.

The group used a variety of fundraisers including a silent auction, parents night out, Sonic drink deliveries and t-shirt sales to reach their goal.

91勛圖厙 Instructor and Coordinator of Business and Accounting Kathy Boeger is the sponsor for the group and said the students surpassed their initial goal by $1,000.

The college is now on summer hours. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.泭 The college will be closed on Fridays through July 26.泭

The Shafer Art Gallery will host an opening reception for the Kansas Educators: In the Collection exhibit at 6 p.m. May 16 and will feature works from Birger Sandzen, Harry Krug and Mick Jilg. Gallery director remarks and artist talks will begin at 6:45. Refreshments will be served.

Kieora Nichols of Jacksonville, N.C. and Nolan Riley of Augusta were named 91勛圖厙s 2019 Outstanding Graduates. Dean of Student Services Angie Maddy introduced them and presented their awards during the colleges 49th commencement ceremony Friday.

91勛圖厙 has announced its 2018-19 Brant J. Ballhorst Student Ambassador of the Year awards. Named in memory of Brant J. Ballhorst, the award recognizes two outstanding Student Ambassadors each year. The winners this year were Delaney Smith of Hoisington and Joanna Lockwood of Hoisington.泭

91勛圖厙 will offer transitioning Fort Riley Soldiers, Veterans and family members with DOD ID cards, a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to participants.

The Hazardous Waste Worker Training (HWWT) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set from June 3-14 at 91勛圖厙s campus near Junction City: 100 Continental Ave, Grandview Plaza, Kan. which is just north of I-70 at exit 299.

91勛圖厙 is hosting auditions for its dance company, 91勛圖厙 Dance Theater, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 in Studio 34, located in the Sunflower housing units on 91勛圖厙s campus.

Members of 91勛圖厙 Dance Theater will experience trips with the company to perform in diverse venues, attend workshops and see dance concerts live. With this time set aside, students can focus on the art form of dance in the styles of modern-contemporary, jazz and ballet.

91勛圖厙s 49th commencement is set for 7 p.m. Friday, May 10, in the 91勛圖厙 Gymnasium. The ceremony will be following a shorter format this year. There will be no official speaker.

After brief comments from President Dr. Heilman, Vice President of Student Services Angie Maddy will present the 2019 Outstanding Graduate awards to Kieora Nichols and Nolan Riley. 泭
