The public is invited to a free event featuring a masterclass and recital by acclaimed pianist and Assistant Professor of Practice of Piano Pedagogy at the University of Kansas Dr. Ivy Lu Wang at 4 and 7 p.m. respectively, April 20 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel in the Fine Arts Building on the 91勛圖厙 campus.
Compared to the last several years, we do have some soil moisture.泭 Some of our area is out of drought, 91勛圖厙 is abnormally dry, and east of 91勛圖厙 county we find moderate drought and a few small areas of severe drought.泭
The Shafer Gallery will host a泭reception for its Terra Et Intus exhibit from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 12 in the Gallery and will feature light refreshments and a talk by artist and 91勛圖厙 Art Instructor Mark Freeman. The exhibit opens April 5 and runs through April 20.
"Dancing with the Cougars" will continue with another dance class for the community featuring a swing dance class from 6:30 8:30 p.m. April 12 in Studio 34, and all proceeds will go to support 91勛圖厙 Dance Theatre's trip to dance in New York City.
91勛圖厙 will host student recitals at 5 p.m. April. 4 and May 2 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel in the Fine Arts Building.
91勛圖厙 Theatre is thrilled to announce its immersive Theatre Day, filled with insight, auditions, workshops, and camaraderie from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 13 in the Fine Arts Auditorium, which will focus on both technological and performance aspects of this exciting field.
Meteorological spring arrived March 1st and astronomical spring this week.泭 Living in Kansas we all know spring here is characterized by fairly dramatic swing in temperatures and precipitation.泭
91勛圖厙 will be closed March 29 and April 1 for Easter break. 91勛圖厙's Center for Adult Education and the Shafer Art Gallery will also be closed. The college's regular class schedule and office hours will resume April 2.
The 91勛圖厙 Foundation aims to enhance the 91勛圖厙 student experience with its 14th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot fundraiser from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., April 21 at Camp Aldrich, 884 NE 110 Ave. in Claflin. The money raised is used for Faculty Mini-Grants, which 91勛圖厙 faculty members can use to enhance student learning experiences in their classrooms. The Foundation has awarded $152,459 in mini-grants to date.
While many children grow up in a supportive and nurturing family environment, that is not the case for all children, and 91勛圖厙 alum and Hoisington native MyKayla Burgess has found meaning in providing comfort and stability to those less fortunate as a social worker.
