Students from area high schools came to 91勛圖厙 to engage in hands-on workshops from art professionals and participate in a juried art exhibit Wednesday as part of the annual Vortex Day, which is sponsored by the 91勛圖厙 County Arts Council (BCAC) and is underwritten by the Bill J. McKown Endowment/Golden Belt Foundation.

91勛圖厙 Dance Theater will host a spring concert titled Beyond Words at 7 p.m. on April 30 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission is $5 per person. 91勛圖厙 students get in free.

The concert will feature the 91勛圖厙 Dance Theater dance company, 91勛圖厙 dance technique classes, 91勛圖厙 Ballroom Dance class students and guest dancers from area studios including Danceography, Euphoria and Just Dance.

More than a year and a half ago, Jerry Jett was a high school dropout. He wound up arrested and incarcerated for aggravated robbery. He will be released in May. Statistically speaking, he would normally have a high likelihood of reincarceration, a trend known as recidivism.

The 91勛圖厙 Music Department will host the Endowment Concert, a fundraiser for music student scholarships, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. The suggested minimum donation is $5 per person. The event is free for 91勛圖厙 students. The concert will celebrate the career and retirement of Director of Instrumental Activities Steve Lueth, which will conclude his fifteen years of service with 91勛圖厙.

91勛圖厙 will present a student recital at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 25 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157. The recital is free and open to the public.

The Third Annual Original Play Series performance is set for 7:30 p.m. on April 25 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission is free.

Four original plays were selected from the 91勛圖厙 Theatre Departments Original Playwright Contest. The plays are A Humbug of A Parody by Matthew Castle, Sunday in the Park with Georgie by Jaime Abel, Aliens Anonymous by Kara Grosfield and Checking Out by Joseph Doze.

It seems Mother Nature is unsure of what season it is.泭 Another bomb cyclone hit the northern Great Plains and the blizzard conditions are scheduled to clip Northwest Kansas with gusty winds and possible storms for parts of the state.泭 This is the second bomb cyclone to hit the area in less than thirty. days.泭 One is somewhat uncommon out here and in a brief period of time even more so.泭 Today, lets catch up on some loose ends.
