91勛圖厙 is hosting the first round of in-person auditions for its dance company, 91勛圖厙 Dance Theatre, and dance scholarship awards, from 10 a.m.-12 noon, March 27 in Studio 34, located in the Sunflower housing units on 91勛圖厙s campus. 泭
Dance Coordinator Danika Bielek said students considering a job or career in dance, or becoming a dance major, should consider what 91勛圖厙s Dance Department has to offer.
This is a great opportunity for students who enjoy dancing, she said. 91勛圖厙s Dance Department offers competitive performance award scholarships that can help pay for school while students continue to grow as dancers in a nurturing and creative environment.
91勛圖厙 Dance Theatre strives to:
十泭 泭Give dance students an understanding of what it is like to dance in a dance company.
十泭 泭Give dance majors and students pursuing other majors the opportunity to continue their love of dancing in college.
十泭 泭Expose dance students to a variety of dance styles, and how to perform them.
十泭 泭Give students experience dancing at different of venues, for a variety of audiences.
十泭 泭Increase dance students knowledge of healthy practices for performers: nutrition, maintaining a healthy body, and social aspects of a dance company.
十泭 泭Create technically strong and resilient dancers while learning to perform dance as an art form.
十泭 泭Expose dance majors to university dance program options to consider transferring into after 91勛圖厙.
To be considered for company placement, dance students must have at least two years of dance experience and plan to attend 91勛圖厙 in the fall of 2021. Once accepted, students will register for DANC 1001 91勛圖厙 Dance Theatre (2 credits) meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m.泭
91勛圖厙s Performing Arts Dance Program is offering generous performance scholarships to both 91勛圖厙 Dance Theatre members. The dance program is also providing scholarships for students who wish to take other dance classes.
